Nesmith Family

Pennsylvania is one of the 13 original states and was originally founded in 1681 as a result of a royal land grant to William Penn, the son of the state's namesake.

John Nesmith was born in 1736 and baptized in the Presbyterian church in Abington, Montgomery County Pennsylvania. His parents were Thomas Nesmith and Dorcas Foster.

He married Margaret Paul Yerkes, the widow of Titus Yerkes on January 17, 1764 in the Manor of Moreland.

In 1772 he participated in the inquiry of Patrick Lockhart's death.

At the time of the 1776 assessment of the Manor of Moreland, he had 60 acres, 2 horses, 2 cows and a grist mill and a saw mill.

John died about 1790.

Margaret died on January 16, 1823.
